FAQ

Learning to play an instrument helps develop hand and eye coordination as well as fine motor skills. Studies have suggested that students who engage in music often demonstrate improved performance in subjects like mathematics and language arts.
Music can reduce stress and promote relaxation as it can be a therapeutic outlet, providing an escape from the demands of everyday life.  Students can also learn to be creative & innovative as it allows them to explore their own unique artistic expression and fosters a mindset of thinking outside the box. Lastly, music is a lifelong enjoyment & offers a wide range of cognitive, emotional, and social benefits that contribute to overall personal development & well-being.

The first and most obvious advantage to taking music lessons in your home is convenience. Coming home from a day of work and being inundated with after-school activities & evening responsibilities can seem overwhelming for anyone.  When an instructor can come to your home it saves you the cost of gas, time, and the headaches & hassle of fighting traffic. Most parents and students find the idea of in-home lessons with a professional instructor an extremely attractive alternative.

In addition to in-home music lessons, Pinnacle Music House offers a wide array of music programs such as audio recording, sound engineering + live sound, songwriting, band coaching, annual showcases, student jams, workshops, and student outings. These musical programs help prepare students for long-term success in the music industry and allow students to join a like-minded community of individuals for events outside of their weekly music lessons. Pinnacle Music House has an online portal for students that includes between-lesson support, a place to access and save your practice assignments, and watch custom videos from our instructors.

Yes, all Pinnacle Music House instructors are experienced professionals and are chosen not only for their qualifications, but also for their love of teaching and their ability to relate to the students. Our faculty have spent years developing their skills in their instruments and vocal training.

No, you do not need a full drum set to start drum lessons. Students can start lessons by using a practice pad. This is a small dinner plate-sized pad that is used for practicing basic drum rhythms.

There is no set answer to how long it takes to learn an instrument. With regular practice, a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long-term basis because they want to be constantly improving and because they find the lessons enjoyable.

All Pinnacle Music House student jams are in a fun low-key setting under the guidance of a Pinnacle Music House instructor at a local rehearsal space. Jam with other students, hang out, make new friends, practice lesson material, or write new music. Jamming with other musicians can spark creativity and inspire new musical ideas. Jams are open to all current students and their friends as long as everyone is registered. We will provide pizza & drinks to all registered students. Parents are more than welcome to stay, drop, or come & go as they please.

Usually, students have “begged” to start music lessons on a particular instrument, so we suggest that the student sticks with their instrument of choice for several months before switching to another instrument or voice lessons. If this happens, the parent should contact the director so we can give the instructor any feedback and discuss ways to generate more interest. Although, students can switch to another instrument or program at any time during the year.

We generally have found that students progress better in separate lessons and we would be happy to discuss this with you. If you are looking for convenience, you can ask about scheduling both lessons back-to-back.

Yes, your child’s safety is the top priority. We use systems that monitor lessons and activities as much as you wish. Every Pinnacle Music House student receives their own private profile in our online learning portal when they start lessons.  All communication between instructors and students takes place through this portal, which is safe and fully monitored. All lesson files, videos, and communication with instructors are safely stored in their profiles and can be reviewed by parents at any time. Pinnacle Music House is fully insured, and all instructors undergo full background checks and complete ministry-safe orientation as part of our hiring process.

We understand that some people’s schedules do not allow for weekly lessons, but it is really important that your instructor checks your progress and corrects any bad habits or mistakes each week. Also, attending weekly lessons will continue the learning momentum and generate mastering a skill more quickly.
